MGE was contracted by SMUD for the planning and design of two customer service parking lots in the vicinity of the S Street campus. A result of city requirements for intersection reconstruction, and a lack of funding, the parking lot at the corner of 65th Avenue and S Street was eliminated in favor of a landscaped development. Both lots included street frontage improvements. To assist with funding constraints, PS&E for each lot was segregated into separate demolition and construction contracts. MGE provided design support during construction of both lots. Construction was completed in 2006.
MGE prepared contract documents for the establishment of the landscape development at 65th Avenue and S Street, as well as the parking lot on S Street. The S Street parking lot required demolition of existing buildings, development of utilities, reconfiguration of an existing parking lot and provided underground infrastructure improvements to support a future hydrogen refueling facility.
