Sacramento County Parks
Under an “On-Call” contract with Sacramento County Architectural Services Division, MGE prepared a scoping report and cost estimate for the programming of restroom rehabilitation, reconstruction and replacement of 13 restroom facilities throughout various County Parks and facilities. Projects varied from replacement of existing chemical toilets with permanent facilities, golf course restroom/snack bar reconstruction, to new restroom facilities. The scoping report allowed the County to determine the costs and prioritization for expenditure of Proposition 40 and Tobacco Tax monies and to eliminate existing liabilities associated with non-accessible facilities and out-of-compliance improvements.
Following the scoping report, MGE received numerous contracts for Design and Construction Support for the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, engineer’s estimate, construction support, and final walk-through inspection for 10 restrooms at local parks and recreational facilities throughout the County. In addition to restroom replacements and rehabilitation, projects also included miscellaneous facilities reconstruction, replacement of interior fixtures, and site adaptations to meet current accessibility requirements. Projects were scheduled to maximize expenditure of funding streams, be constructed around annual park events and utilize existing infrastructure or develop new infrastructure to support new and future improvements. For many of the restroom and Chemical Toilet replacements, on-site waste disposal and solar power electrical systems were required.
Project Design and construction is complete for: Ancil Hoffman Golf Course Restroom/Snack Bar rehabilitation, Cherry Island Soccer Complex Restroom Construction, Hogback Island Fishing Access Chemical Toilet Replacement, William Pond Recreation Area Restroom renovation and Chemical Toilet replacement, River Bend (Formerly Goethe Park) restroom replacement, Lower Sunrise Main and Sacramento Bar Restroom Replacement Projects (Summer 2010). The Discovery Park Chemical Toilet replacement was deprogrammed in 2009 to fund the River Bend restroom replacement. The Lower Sunrise Main Picnic area was completed in 2010.
In addition, MGE was contracted to provide a new secure entry to the Gibson Ranch Regional Park. For this project MGE developed infrastructure and communications facilities, demolition of existing kiosk and entry portal, and the design and construction support for a new entry portal and kiosk that provides secure access to the park for vehicles, equestrians and pedestrians. The gate structure incorporated original artwork.
